The MasterSingers is an ensemble of gifted singers from Omaha, eastern Nebraska and western Iowa. Members are selected by audition and volunteer their time from September through May. Although the group is a nonprofit organization governed by Concert Hall Series, Inc., many of its singers are professional musicians and educators.

Since its beginning in 1969, The MasterSingers (formerly "Die Meistersingers") has nourished the health of choral arts in the region by regularly commissioning new works, recording, performing in various venues and welcoming guest artists and conductors. Composers who have created new works for the ensemble include Edwin Fissinger, Gerald Kremner, James Fritschel, Martin Gold, Boyd Bacon, Robert Beadell, Ric Swanson and Jim Elsberry, the group's own artistic director. In addition, The MasterSingers commissioned renowned composer John Rutter to write several pieces, including "Gloria." Their Christmas recording, "Light of Love," was released in 1995, and their choral jazz recording "Friends was released in the Spring of 1997.

Concert selections run the musical gamut, in an effort to both educate audiences and foster appreciation for a wide range of choral literature. The ensemble annually offers ethnic and culturally diverse concerts, recently featuring the music of South American, Italian, German and African-American composers and the performances of area musicians such as Mariachi Zapata, La Banda and Jay Terrell & High Praise.
